SF6-free S-band circulator for photo injectors
Project summary
Development of a vacuum-compatible high-power waveguide circulator operable without SFC6 (highly harmful greenhouse gas). The prototype will be developed by an industrial partner (to be identified) and necessary high power testing will be carried out at CERN in the CTF2 test stand. Common applications of SF6-free waveguide circulators include RF photo-injectors frequently used in FELs, Compton scattering facilities and compact medical accelerators. The project encompasses the assessment of setting up a cross-departmental task force to investigate the feasibility of SF6-free circuit breakers.
