Web Energy: Energy, water and gas monitoring and forecasting platform

WebEnergy is a software tool that allows users to monitor and forecast the energy consumption of CERN equipment. It has been operating at CERN since 2012 and has seen many developments since.
Financing from CERN Knowledge Transfer went towards readying the software for use outside CERN, removing incompatible commercial dependencies, achieving ISO50001 compliance standard, and integrating Machine Learning capabilities. Further extension to gas and water monitoring is foreseen by the end of 2026.
The technology is mature and ready for takeover by external companies. CERN KT is involved in discussions with actors in the energy market to disseminate the product.

Industries this type of project can also apply to:
- Research facilities
- Airports and large transit hubs
- Data Centres and IT infrastructure
- Smart cities and municipal utilities
- Manufacturing plants and industrial sites
- Office buildings and commercial real estate
Key features of the technology:
Unified smart forecasting and monitoring
Combines metering data with operational schedules in a single model to
generate reliable long-term forecasts, enabling immediate feedback on the organisation’s energy profile.
Anomaly detection
Applies advanced statistical methods to identify irregularities in metering
and operational data.
ISO 50001 compliance
Supports the implementation and maintenance of processes aligned with
ISO 50001 energy management standards.
Cloud-native, hardware-agnostic & vendor independent
Built on open-source, cloud native technologies with no dependencies on
specific vendors or hardware. Just connect your data and configuration.
Deployment is fast and straightforward.
Flexible & scalable
Web Energy’s versatile architecture and data model support everything from a single building to multi-site research facilities, allowing users to start small and scale without migrating tools.
