CHUV and ISREC Foundation announce a donation of 25 million Swiss francs to extend FLASH radiotherapy treatment to all types of cancer | CHUV
(Switzerland / French)
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) and the ISREC Foundation announce that funding has been secured for the clinical application of a state-of-the-art radiotherapy technology to treat the most resistant types of cancer. This innovative development of radiotherapy selectively destroys tumour cells while sparing healthy tissue. It could be used to treat patients with various cancers with FLASH therapy. Its entry into the clinical field would be a world first. This donation of 25 million Swiss francs expands the CHUV's initial efforts in radiation oncology innovations. It will enable specialists at the CHUV to collaborate with experts in particle acceleration technologies at CERN to conceptualise and build a dedicated FLASH radiation therapy platform.
